Tour Indian Summer Honey Farm

Looking to learn about honeybees? Wondering how honey is extracted? Come and tour our family farm for free during our extracting season. We are passionate about teaching young and old about the wonderful honeybee.

Taste fresh honey straight from the comb during your experience! Learn how we keep our honey raw and unfiltered.

Schools, homeschool groups, groups of all sizes, we encourage everyone to learn about the bees and the benefits of buying local honey.

Tour Experience

We will begin the tour with information about honeybees, how they are raised, what they do in their life-span, the big difference between honeybees and other “bees”, and other general information about honeybees with visual representations. Depending on outside factors, we may have an observation hive for viewing during this part of the tour. For groups smaller than fifteen individuals, it is more likely that we will not have an observation hive for viewing.

For the second half of the tour, we will show you how we extract our honey and how we keep it raw and unfiltered. We will complete the tour by offering honey, candles, and other products for sale in our small honey shop. Each tour takes about an hour, but can be adjusted according to you or your group’s needs.

Save Money and Bring Your Own Jars

Jars brought during tours for filling will be collected before the tour begins and will be filled during the tour. We prefer pint (1.5lbs), quart (3lbs), half-gallon (6lbs) or gallon (12lbs) jars/jugs. Have a random sized jar to fill? That’s okay, we can weigh and fill any size jar or container. Please label your jar for proper identification. Unless given other instructions to the employee collecting your jars, all jars will be filled with the freshest batch of honey currently available.

Important Notes

We only allow tours to come during our extracting season. Our extracting season varies from year to year. Typically, tours can be scheduled in July through September. Please call or e-mail us for information on our current extracting season.

We accept cash, check, or cards with a 3% processing fee.

DURING YOUR TOUR, you will see that our farm is a full running farm with large equipment, slippery floors, animals (dogs, chickens, rabbits, etc.) and live bees. We advise those who are severely allergic to bee stings or have a fear of bees to skip out on this tour. Although honeybees are not naturally aggressive and bee stings are not probable, there is still a possibility.

All tours must be scheduled in advance. To schedule a tour, please call or e-mail us.
