How we move the bees ...

In early November all of the hives are gather together and stacked in rows four pallets high in a staging area or load out yard, where they await arrival of semi-trucks for transport to Florida at the end of the month.
Using our GEHL loader, we carefully put 34 of these stacks of hives onto the bed of the semi-truck. When we are finished, we will have 544 hives on the truck, ready to be netted and banded for the trip to Florida, which takes approximately 24 hours.
We time our arrival in Fl to coincide with dawn and then the process is reversed and the bees are set out in a scattered array  on large ranches, where they will look for pollen and nectar amongst the maple trees and willows, that border the many lakes and swamps.
